ACTIVITIES
This year's priority lies in the organisation and execution of the WFAS 2005 International Symposium of Acupuncture
As pioneers in Portugal , the APAE has actively promoted the introduction of efficient, genuine and safe Acupuncture ever since its establishment in 1973 with the coming of Mitsuharu Tsuchiya to Portugal . The association benefited from its exclusive partnerships and alliances with the local Doctor Groups and influential institutions from Japan allowing the APAE to offer an innovative perspective into Oriental Medicine and build on its academic understanding.
The A.P.A.E., through Dr. Mitsuharu Tsuchiya and the team's efforts, has become an Executive Member of the W.F.A.S. as of 2005, making the A.P.A.E. the only association in Portugal to have suceeded in achieving this goal.

• Theoretical and practical Acupuncture lessons to MDs
• Organisation of national symposiums of Acupuncture
• Setting the research agenda for APAE members and affiliated research groups
• Publication of symposium summaries and research compilations
• Exchanging academic and practical knowledge with international counterparts
• Actively promoting W.F.A.S. objectives in Portugal
The next steps for the A.P.A.E. is to extend its experience and philosophy throughout Portugal and the rest of Europe , strengthening ties with its Chinese and Japanese counterparts.

1976 Second Symposium in Portugal : "Migraine and Electric Acupuncture"
1977 Third Symposium in Portugal : "Eyes Disease - Treatment by Electro-acupuncture"

Fourth Symposium in Portugal : "Electro-acupuncture and Menière Syndrome"
1979 Fifth Symposium in Portugal : "Multiple Sclerosis and Electro-acupuncture"
1980 First National Congress of Acupuncture: "Relationship between Electric Acupuncture and Pain Treatment
1981 Edition of Dr. Mitsuharu Tsuchiya's first textbook "Introduction to Acupuncture for Medical Doctors"
1982 Investigation of the relationship between Electric Acupuncture and Cholinesterase
1983 Treatment of Atopic Dermatitis by Electric Acupuncture. During the investigation Dr. Mitsuharu Tsuchiya found about cortisone liberation.
